Christmas Shennanigans

Today, the Christmas shopping is finished! Let the wrapping begin! I've managed to bring Christmas in at a staggeringly low figure this year as we will have a lot of expenses with the baby. Karl's gift is the exception. He deserves to be spoiled this year for many reasons. I won't reveal the secret until after he receives the present, but its a good one!!!

Pretty Presents

This Christmas is going to be much leaner than Christmases past. To that end, I am recycling old gift bags to use as wrapping paper and raiding my notions bin for trim. Rik-rak is one of my favorites. I'm also using it for the "string" in drawstring toy bags I am making for our twin nieces. The gift tags sure are pretty. I picked them up a few years back at a Renegade craft fair. I wish I could credit the creator, but I could not find the info.

My Favorite Martian

This little pincushion was a quick project with leftover felt scraps. The hand sewing went by in a flash. I'll post the instructions soon. Just add pins for antennae and instant martian!

Rooster on a stick

Snapped this picture during our biking trip in Wisconsin last year. My wheels are turning on how I can recreate this in fabric. Prototypes to follow.

Mocktails Anyone?

Cherry Lime Rickey - Lime Syrup, Grenadine and Club soda on the rocks. I love the layers. Gin can be added for some extra fun. This was one of the great drink recipes from Gourmet magazine. How I miss getting those issues in the mail!

Cobbler Dreamin'

This is from an event earlier this year, but Cobbler season is upon us! We kind of improvised this blackberry and apple cobbler. The top turned out looking a little "biscuity" (I like that word), but it was tasty!

Anticipation, excitement and a little anxiety

The baby is more active than ever - kicking and rolling away. For now, I feel like the baby is safe and cozy in its little home. I've been vaccinated, watching my diet (for the most part) and taking vitamins and supplements for a healthy baby. Sometime in the next two months, the baby will arrive. What will happen then? Will my labor be easy or long and painful? Will the baby be OK? How will I feel afterwards? So many variables and so much to prepare for. I'm looking forward to arrival of the baby more and more each day.
